Helping People with Permanent Disabilities

Even the most simple of tasks—such as opening a door, picking up a dropped pen, getting the remote control, turning on a light, or retrieving the phone during an emergency—can be a monumental undertaking for someone with permanent disabilities. Freedom Service Dogs transforms shelter and rescue dogs into life-changing, custom-trained assistance dogs for people in need. These dogs are professionally trained and given free of charge to veterans and active duty military, children, and adults with disabilities. Their disabilities include autism, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injuries, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
